SYRACUSE, NY (April 5, 2021) — To support the remote learning of local students, Syracuse-based company, Terakeet, today announced a donation of 200 laptops to families within the Syracuse City School District. Additionally, families that receive a laptop, but do not have internet, will also receive a hotspot and cellular card to ensure students have access to online materials and classes.
Whether fully remote or hybrid, every student in the Syracuse City School District is experiencing some form of virtual learning, but not all have the ability to connect with their online classes. Donated devices, along with those provided by the school district, ensure students can participate in class.
The donation was made through Terakeet’s in-house charity Cause For The ‘Cuse, which has donated over $100k and helped 20,000 students in over 30 Syracuse schools since its inception in 2013. In the past, Cause For The ‘Cuse has focused its efforts on providing school supplies, hygiene products and clothing for students.
“Our goal is to make the greater Syracuse area a better place to live and work,” says Patrick Danial, Terakeet’s chief technology officer and co-founder. “After this especially difficult year for our community, we wanted to think bigger and find more ways to help local families directly. We are thrilled to be able to step up to help students continue their learning.”
