Syracuse-based company will support four schools through food pantry funding, direct school investments and employee volunteerism
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — September 16, 2026 — Syracuse-based Terakeet is expanding its investment in local students with a $40,000 commitment to the Syracuse City School District (SCSD) for the 2026–2027 school year through its employee-led nonprofit, Cause for the Cuse.
The commitment will support students at four Syracuse schools, combining direct financial assistance with hands-on involvement from Terakeet employees throughout the academic year.
As part of the commitment, Cause for the Cuse will provide $10,000 to the food pantry at the Public Service Leadership Academy (PSLA) at Fowler High School, helping the school address food insecurity and provide essential resources to students and their families.
Beyond the donation, Terakeet employees plan to work with Fowler staff on an in-person student activity focused on food and nutrition, developed in partnership with educators, social workers and other school staff.
The remaining $30,000 will support a new school adoption program at Delaware Primary School, Brighton Academy and Corcoran High School, with each school receiving $10,000 during the academic year. Cause for the Cuse will work directly with school leaders to determine how the funding can have the greatest impact, while creating opportunities for Terakeet employees to volunteer and engage with students throughout the year.
“Partnerships like this make a meaningful difference for our students, families and school communities,” said Pamela J. Odom, Superintendent of the Syracuse City School District. “We are grateful to Terakeet and Cause for the Cuse for not only investing in our schools, but for taking the time to understand their individual needs and building relationships that extend beyond financial support.”
The new commitment builds on Terakeet’s ongoing support of Syracuse students. Earlier this year, Cause for the Cuse donated $10,000 to the Mary Nelson Youth Center’s annual Back 2 School Backpack Giveaway, helping provide local students with backpacks and school supplies ahead of the academic year. The organization has also supported educational programs at the MOST, Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse, and other youth-focused organizations across Central New York.
“For 25 years, Syracuse has been Terakeet’s home base, and we believe being part of this community means investing in its future,” said Mac Cummings, CEO and Co-Founder of Terakeet. “Through Cause for the Cuse, our employees have built something that goes beyond financial support. We want to develop real relationships with these schools, listen to what their students and educators need, and continue showing up throughout the year.”
Cause for the Cuse is funded in part through the Terakeet Invitational, the company’s annual charitable golf tournament. The 2026 event brought together local businesses, partners and community supporters and raised a record $151,000 to support children and families in the Syracuse area.
